Museum Exhibit Models

A 70-foot diorama was created as the centerpiece for American Museum of Natural History's exhibit Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries. Working with paleontologists and fabricators I designed and built models of ancient plants from fossil records.

Leaves were created in vacuformed plastic and molded brass, then airbrushed, posed and attached to custom sculpted stems built around real tree branches. Insect damage was added to some leaves, others were painted to look dead.

Hundreds of leaves and ferns were styled in final placement in the diorama around models of insects, dinosaurs and one of the first known predatory mammals.
